Detroit Tigers' Jose Iglesias injured on walk-off error in loss
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Jose Iglesias was spotted inside the visiting clubhouse at Tropicana Field at 11:12 p.m. on Wednesday night, some 15 minutes after he woozily walked off the playing field following the most unlikely of endings in the Tigers’ 8-7 loss to the Rays.
Still in his uniform, he sat on a couch with a bloody elbow and was first consoled by closer Francisco Rodriguez, whose second blown save of the season came in small part because of Iglesias’ game-ending error.

On the play, a tailor-made double play ball, Iglesias stumbled over second base, threw wide of first base – allowing the game-winning run to score – before taking a knee to the jaw from Rays second baseman Brad Miller.

“We want to make sure Iglesias is OK,” manager Brad Ausmus’ first comments on the game were. “That’s our primary focus right now, so he’s what we’re thinking about.”
Iglesias drank water and made small talk with teammates, like Rodriguez and designated hitter Victor Martinez and reliever Anibal Sanchez, still dazed but seeming to indicate he was OK.
