This year (2016) there are 23 Moore County state winners in the same age category.  Remarkably, O’Neal has held its own by representing 11 of these winners for both years. In 2014, O’Neal claimed 14 state winners.

Lower School Academic Enrichment Teacher, Judi Arnold, has been involved with the county Young Authors competition for the past ten years. “From the very first year I judged, it was clear that O’Neal was doing something right when it came to writing instruction,” says Ms. Arnold. “In fact, I was blown away by what our Lower School students were producing compared with the other schools. O’Neal has been a top contender for many years. And let’s not forget our O’Neal teachers who have entered their own stories under the Forever Young category and won.”  Judging is open to any MCRA member of any participating school in the county-wide competition. The school representative cannot judge his or her own school’s entries.
